Yesterday we all witnessed a profound event; the inauguration of President Obama. For most of us he represents change, renewed hope and optimism. He’s living proof that what we once thought wasn’t possible, is possible. We all have the choice to integrate his words “Yes we can” into our lives. He said yesterday change requires each and every individual to do their part. It’s not all up to the President and his administration.
Within your family, what are you going to commit to, to make the world a better place? When it comes to making a difference, what kind of a role model do you want to be? Do you need to spend less on things you don’t need? Are you going to recycle more? Are you going to conserve energy? Are you going to reach out to people in need? Are you going to think more about sustainable living?
We love strong leaders who are decisive and role model what they believe in. We’re more likely to follow their example when they walk their talk. Families work in much the same way. We have a responsibility to lead by example if we want our children to live responsibility and develop global awareness. Talk has little impact if our actions aren’t aligned with our words.
I am optimistic that globally we’re shifting in a positive direction. Change is in the air and it feels good. I’m grateful for what President Obama brings to the world; not only the United States.
