Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.

Working with families is often one of the more complex tasks in the process of helping others, but can lead to some of the more amazing outcomes with sustained improvement. In my clinical practice, what I found over the years is number one factor that undermines the family system, is that communication often is the thing that really gets in the way of shared success. When things start to go awry in my family, once we realize we are on the wrong track, we go right back to the basics of communication to figure out where we got of course. There are so many factors that influence communication, but it appears that perception, the way we perceive an experience, has the most significant impact. When we see the world differently, than the most likely outcome is that sooner or later we will look at the same experience and start talking about two different things. It is at these moments, where trust is either built or destroyed. This is where having a guide to help navigate these moments, can help maintain trust and decrease anxiety. One of the strengths I bring to this adventure is the ability to break down complex narratives into linear stories by applying a multitude of psychological, developmental, biological, and neurological theories to create deeper understanding of how life has been brought you to this point. The 10 Steps for Parenting to Potential, are a guide to increase awareness of these moments, because there are lots of them, and steps to take to actively rebuild trust when things don’t go the way you hoped. Whether you take the class or join the group calls, together you will learn to analyze how your story fits together, we can help you create a shared vision for your family, and you can take the steps towards potential. The underpinning belief that I hold, is that we all have the capacity for growth, and I can guide you to become the parent who can help their child face any of life’s challenges and help your child grow into their potential.

Over the last 17 years I have worked with children, families, parents, adults in community based settings, homes, school based settings, juvenile hall, substance abuse clinic, private practice, and residential facilities.  However, the last 11 years have challenged me the most, to go beyond what I know and live the life that I coached others on living. I have found so much joy in watching others take steps towards their potential.  I have watched amazing people recognize their potential and take intentional steps towards their desired aim.  I have been able to watch families work and play together harmoniously, kids graduate high school and go onto college, kids make lasting friendships and trusting relationships, and people expand their belief of who they could be and actualize that belief.  I look forward to watching you maximize your potential!
